Futuristic Suit With Anti-Fogging Glass Could Shorten The Wait To Travel Again

With face masks now compulsory in many public places and on flights, a Canadian tech firm, VYZR Technologies, has created a “haute hazmat” suit amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Toronto-based company designed a personal protective gear called the ‘BioVYZR’, pricing it as US$250 on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. The futuristic gear mimics the top half of an astronaut’s suit, and is fitted with anti-fogging windows and air-purifying technology.
The product has been met with great interest—50,000 units have already been pre-ordered, and the first batch is set to ship by the end of July.
However, it is still unknown if the suit will be allowed onboard flights. According to Forbes, the suit reduces the wearer’s ability to hear, and could therefore need to be removed when safety announcements are ongoing.
A spokesperson for EasyJet told the Telegraph that an air mask would not be able to fit in the suit in the case of an emergency, and Ryanair also expressed concerns about the outerwear’s height, which could be a deterrent in the event of a quick exit being needed.
The company plans to unveil a second batch soon, this time adding a fan for circulation and a power bank.
Although the suit’s ability to pass air travel clearance is debatable, the company believes that it is the future. Its CEO, Yezin Al-Qaysi, told Forbes, “We designed the BioVYZRs for frontline healthcare staff, essential workers and high-risk individuals. Our biggest customers are doctors, dentists, teachers, barbers, spas, etc. Air travel is definitely an important segment, but far from our largest segment.”
He also believes that the BioVYZR will give passengers “peace of mind” during long flights surrounded with “hundreds of passengers.”
