Summer in the time of
corona has just taken a sweet turn, as Ben & Jerry’s has just
divulged the recipe for its famous edible cookie dough for all to enjoy.
It turns out that preparing the indulgent treat is an ultimate breeze, which means you won’t have to dig for treasure in ice cream tubs. And since it will require only 15 minutes to make, and therefore less time than the duration it takes to run to the store to grab Ben & Jerry’s ice cream-less snackable cookie dough, you’ll be saving it for dessert emergencies.
You’ll also only need seven common ingredients you might already have to prepare a batch of the safe-to-eat cookie dough: butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, kosher salt, flour, and chocolate chips.
The step that’s perhaps the most “challenging,” and the word is used liberally here, is to heat-treat your flour—but all that involves is popping the flour in the microwave until it attains a temperature of 165°F throughout. It’s best to use an instant-read thermometer for this bit.
If you do end up with leftovers, you can save them for a rainy day as they’ll keep in the fridge for a week as long as you store them in an airtight container.
To answer the age-old question of whether Ben & Jerry’s cookie dough can be baked, it’s a yes. However, the ice cream giant says its
Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe would be a better option.
But if you’re looking for a quick summer-friendly snack that doesn’t involve an oven, the all-time favorite edible cookie dough checks all boxes. Grab the full recipe
