George Floyd’s Hologram Projects Onto Confederate Statue With His Family Present

George Floyd was killed under the custody of a Minneapolis cop in late May, spurring anti-racism protests across the US.
A temporary memorial for Floyd was set up in Richmond, Virginia months later. A huge crowd, including the family members of Floyd, got together on Tuesday for the unveiling of his hologram, which was projected onto the Confederate statue of Robert E. Lee.
The inaugural event was organized by the George Floyd Hologram Memorial Project, a joint collaboration between the George Floyd Foundation and Change.org.
In the following days, the hologram will continue to light up where former Confederate statues stood in various places, including Georgia and North Carolina.
“The hologram will allow my brother’s face to be seen as a symbol for change in places where change is needed most,” Rodney Floyd, brother of George Floyd said.
The hologram design was created by Kaleida Hologram Co. and displayed by Quince Imaging of Virginia.
