Taylor Swift recently unveiled her new merchandise line for her album,
Folklore. However, fans noted resemblances between a logo on an outerpiece and the branding of online retail store The Folklore.
The Folklore’s founder Amira Rasool pointed out the similarities in the logo on the ‘cardigan’ sweater with her designs. “This morning, it came to my attention that musician #TaylorSwift is selling merchandise to go along with her new album
Folklore,” Rasool
wrote on Instagram.
“Based on the similarities of the design, I believe the designer of the merch ripped off my company’s logo,” she added.
Rasool also showed a side-by-side comparison of the sweater and her company logo to prove the similarities between the two. The word “the” before “folklore album” seemed to look a lot like the company’s logo of The Folklore.
Swift’s team immediately released a statement acknowledging the design likenesses and quickly tweaked it.
“Absolutely no merchandise using “the” before the words “folklore album” has been manufactured or sent out,” Swift’s team said in a statement, according to
Good Morning America.
The team “honored [Rasool’s] request and immediately notified everyone who had ordered [the] merchandise” will receive the design without the word “the” before the words “folklore album.”
Upon seeing the product change, Rasool
commended Swift’s team for their action. “Swift’s team took a great first step by removing “the” from all of the merchandise. We are in conversation with her team about the necessary next steps to make this situation right,” Rasool updated on Instagram.
