Ivanka Trump Sparks Fury For Joining Instagram Challenge That ‘Empowers Females’

Ivanka Trump has faced backlash for participating in the ‘Challenge Accepted’ social media trend that claims to be about “women supporting women.”
The first daughter shared a black-and-white throwback photo of herself back when she was pregnant, along with an uplifting post on how women should we kind to each other.
“#ChallengeAccepted. Gratitude for the sisterhood—the women who have held m up and pushed me forward! Each day brings countless opportunities, large and small, to spread light and uplift those around us,” she captioned her photo.
“Let’s be kind to each other. Let’s choose to love, support and strengthen one another. I challenge all of my followers to lead with love. You create the future as you live. #womensupportingwomen,” she continued.
The snap showed Trump donning a collared button-down dress as she cradled her baby bump. Trump is among celebrities, such as Elizabeth Hurley, to have posted photos of themselves as part of the campaign in the name of female empowerment.
While she has long purported to support women, her father, Donald Trump, and his administration have been criticized for rolling out policies that tell a different story. Naturally, people were not impressed, with one Instagram user writing, “How could you support women when you support a man that wants to take away our rights?”
Another Twitter user decided to replace her photo with a snap of her smiling while holding a can of Goya beans.
It is still unclear on the origins of the “women supporting women” challenge. Some believe it was started in Turkey, as women from the country have been sharing black-and-white photos to raise awareness about femicide and violence.
