Apple’s Prototype For Never-Released Glossy Black iPod Touch Surfaces In Pics

Recently-leaked photos that supposedly show a prototype for an unreleased first-generation iPod Touch reveal a design that was well ahead of its years.
The images, posted by Apple tech leaker @DongleBookPro from the “Foxconn factory line,” depict an early iPod Touch with a slick, glossy black finish that the user described was the “same” one used for the 2013 Mac Pro. Interestingly, the first iPod Touch was introduced six years before in 2007.
When the iPod Touch finally reached the masses, its finish was swapped for a mirrored look resembling the aesthetics of its earlier music players.
Apple’s most recent iPod Touch, the seventh-generation model, was unveiled in May 2019. This time around, the company touted it as a device primarily for gaming, rather than music. The iPod Touch 7 is also surprisingly affordable, with prices starting from US$199 at launch.
