Google Makes Its Premium Phone Backup Tool Free For Android & iOS Users

If you’ve been paying monthly subscriptions to store your photos in the cloud, there’s now a free quality alternative from Google you can use, which means a little more to go into your coffee budget.
For two years now, Android users have been depending on their phone’s default backup tool offered through the Google One subscription service. Google is finally releasing this feature for all, and it will soon not only be free for Android smartphone owners but also iPhone users, without the need to apply for a subscription.
The core service provides 15GB of storage for personal accounts—as opposed to iCloud’s basic 5GB option—and automatically backs up photos, videos, contacts, calendar events, and more. To supersize this space to 100GB, you’ll simply have to fork out US$1.99 a month.
Android phone owners can now enjoy this benefit in the updated Google One app. However, iOS users will have to wait for the new Google One app to roll out in the App Store, which the company promises will be “available soon.”
