WhatsApp Unveils Chain Text Fact-Checker So Relatives Can Stop Sharing Fake News

WhatsApp has unveiled a simple feature for users to fact-check forwarded messages before sharing them to others.
More often than not, many have believed forwarded messages as truth, even if they include misinformation. That is why WhatsApp will now include a magnifying glass button when users receive forwarded messages to verify their authenticity.
Users can tap on the button, which will launch a Google search query for more information. Now, there is little excuse for boomer relatives to send you chain messages with false claims, as the easy search shortcut can help them clear their doubts about how accurate a message is.
WhatsApp explained that this function will upload the message to the device’s browser, without exposing the content of the message to WhatsApp, to protect users’ privacy.
The feature is currently being rolled out in Brazil, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Spain, UK, and the US on Android, iOS, and WhatsApp Web.
