Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively Apologize For Wedding In ‘Slave Cabin’ Plantation

Back in 2012, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively held their wedding at the Charleston’s Boone Hall Plantation, which is historically linked to slavery.
The Deadpool actor has now opened up about his decision and regrets for holding their wedding in a place that was known to have housed nine “slave cabins” in the past.
In a recent interview with Fast Company, Reynolds addressed that he had seen the wedding venue on Pinterest, and apologized for being uninformed about the tragic history.
“It’s something we’ll always be deeply and unreservedly sorry for,” Reynolds said in the interview. “It’s impossible to reconcile. What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy.”
Reynolds also mentioned that the two have remarried in another venue since then.
His wife previously acknowledged the couple’s “many mistakes” in a general apology amid anti-racism protests in June. “We’re ashamed that in the past we’ve allowed ourselves to be uninformed about how deeply rooted systemic racism is,” Lively’s post read.
“We want to educate ourselves about other people’s experiences and talk to our kids about everything, all of it… especially our own complicity.”
