Burj Khalifa Lights Up With Lebanese Flag To Stand In Solidarity After Explosion

Dubai’s Burj Khalifa lit up late Tuesday night with the colors of the Lebanese flag in a stand of solidarity after the deadly blasts in Beirut.
On the building’s official Twitter account, a representative shared, “Burj Khalifa lights up in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Lebanon. Our condolences to our beloved people in Lebanon. Oh God, give the people of Lebanon patience and solace.”
The Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt were also illuminated with the Lebanese flag in mourning in the wake of the tragedy.
The massive explosion shook Beirut to its core, and while investigations on the catastrophe are still ongoing, officials said that tons of ammonium nitrate—found in fertilizers and bombs—were unsafely stored at the port since 2014.
UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash wrote a heartfelt message on Twitter. “Our hearts are with Beirut and its people,” he said.
“We pray in these hours that God protects brotherly Lebanon and the Lebanese, and that he eases their pain, heals their wounds, and keep the sadness away from them,” he tweeted alongside a photo of the Burj Khalifa with the Lebanese flag.
