1918 Spanish Flu Guidelines Show Nothing Much Has Changed With COVID-19 Pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic has undoubtedly affected the world, and health authorities have been listing out guidelines for people to practice in order to curb the spread of the virus.
In time with the COVID-19 situation, Twitter user @TalyaVarga shared an alleged old newspaper clipping recommending the “do’s and don’ts” in preventing the Spanish Flu, which spread from 1918 to 1919.
“Spanish flu recommendations. History repeats itself,” the post reads.
The Spanish Flu, caused by an H1N1 influenza A virus, is one of the world’s most severe pandemics in recent history with an estimate of 500 million infected people and at least 50 million deaths worldwide.
The alleged newspaper article regarding the 1918 influenza pandemic pointed out some advice similar to the ones suggested by experts in 2020 amid the COVID-19 crisis.
“Wear a mask,” the first line reads, followed by, “Live a clean, healthy life.”
There is also a section highlighted in the worn-out paper, reading, “Do not disregard the advice of a specialist just because you do not understand,” and, “Do not disregard the rights of a community—obey cheerfully the rules issued by the authorities.”
Another statement in the piece reads, “Do not think you are entitled to special privileges.”
Twitter users soon flocked under the tweet to share other alleged news clippings and compare COVID-19 with the Spanish Flu. One of the posts seems to depict similar waves in death tolls, as well.
