The shame that comes from hours of appreciating memes, that feeling of your minutes being squandered away, isn’t something you should be too concerned about anymore. In some places, a taste for internet jokes pays big. “Some places” is Bud Light, which is now looking for a new CMO—or more specifically, a Chief Meme Officer.

The lager brand announced the job opening on Tuesday, admitting the need for a lead meme role because “our memes are trash.” Apparently so trashy, that the company is offering to pay US$5,000 a month to whoever ends up filling the role.

The job lasts for three months, and will require you to create 10 weekly memes about Bud Light Seltzer.

“We at Bud Light have created the perfect hard seltzer. It’s five-times filtered, 100 calories, and comes in four delicious flavors,” the company explains in its job listing. “But we know a hard seltzer is only as good as its memes and, unfortunately, our memes are trash. We need someone who can change that for us; someone who can pull us out of the pits of cringe, someone who knows how to use the lasso thingy in Photoshop, someone like you.”

“Please help us,” Bud Light begs. “Please.”

Bud Light’s vice president of marketing, Andy Goeler, says in a press release, “We’re excited to hire the brand’s first-ever Chief Meme Officer to help us generate unique Bud Light Seltzer memes that will complement and drive even more awareness of our great tasting seltzers.”

Instead of accepting résumés, the company will jump straight into looking at references. It’s included a set of templates that candidates, especially those with little to no Photoshop experience, can use to demonstrate their big brain energy.

Bud Light is accepting submissions from interested participants aged 21 and above until 18 September. Unfortunately, only one deserving champ can take on the role, though the other applicants need not be too dismayed. Everyone who applies will automatically be in the running for three months’ supply of Bud Light’s hard seltzer.

We made a great-tasting hard seltzer but honestly our memes are terrible. Time to change that. Apply now to be our #ChiefMemeOfficer. It’s a real job with a salary.

Tag someone who would be perfect for the position.
