As Atticus Finch of To Kill A Mockingbird sums up, you never really understand someone until you consider their point of view, climb in their skin and walk around in it, so even if you may have seen Pixar’s films umpteen times, you won’t be able to fully understand any of those characters until you live out their experiences.
It turns out the studio’s recurring character, its logo, could be stuck in a time loop of torture that plays out each time the opening sequence occurs. A horrifying POV short by video editor Ethan Hallstrom, known as Ratboi Pleb on YouTube, imagines Pixar’s opening in the perception of the letter ‘I’.
As you might know by now, Pixar’s animated logo involves the playful lamp, Luxo Jr., hopping around the wordmark, before leaping above the ‘I’, flattening it, and taking its place. What comes across as fun and endearing to the audience could actually be torment for the poor vowel, who’s been smushed down by the lamp for over two decades.
Hallstrom produced the mini horror film using open-source 3D computer graphics software Blender. While he claims the quality isn’t perfect, the terrifying video has drawn in over 1.6 million views.
All those in favor of getting justice for the vowel, say I.
