‘The Office’ Has Two Versions Of Certain Episodes That You Might Have Missed

Even if you’re the biggest fan of The Office, you might not have watched all the episodes, as there are apparently different versions out there.
Former co-stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey shared this discovery in the latest episode of their Office Ladies podcast.
The two planned to discuss the Traveling Salesmen episode from season three, but realized that each of them had watched separate versions of the episode.
“This whole podcast almost went haywire because Jenna was watching the Netflix episode, and I was watching the DVD episode, and they’re totally different,” Kinsey said.
Fischer then found out that there were two variations of Traveling Salesmen on NBC back then. The original was released on 11 January 2007, and the second was out on 15 March 2007.
“They didn’t want to air an exact repeat,” Fischer explained. “They wanted to get more viewers, so they called it a ‘newpeat.’”
Fischer also said that there were some deviations in the plotlines and extra scenes added to the DVD episode. The 12th episode in season three, Traveling Salesmen, was merged with the 13th episode of season three The Return in the DVD format.
“In the opening scene of the Netflix version, it’s Harvey the computer talking to Jim,” Kinsey pointed out. “That’s in the deleted scenes on the DVD, that’s not even in the episode.”
Fischer thought that this “newpeat” episode happened again in season four, when, “Phyllis tells Jim about her house that Bob bought her,” as she saw it on the DVD, but not on the Netflix version.
