According to White House trade advisor Peter Navarro during an interview with MSNBC, Melania Trump is “the Jackie Kennedy of her time.”
Navarro likened the first lady to her predecessor ahead of her speech at the new Rose Garden for the Republican National Convention. “The beauty, the elegance, the soft-spokenness. I think she’ll deliver a powerful message to the American people,” Navarro said.
When the interview surfaced online, social media users responded with strong disagreements. One tweet, which almost has 5,000 likes, read, “So Stormy Daniels is Marilyn Monroe?” referring to former president John F. Kennedy’s alleged affair with the Hollywood star.
“Peter Navarro is seriously delusional, not in a funny way. The man needs help,” another read.
Other Twitter users, however, pointed out that Kennedy never posed nude in photos, unlike Trump, who has a modeling background.
Navarro’s comments came just after Trump unveiled photos of the new Rose Garden, which was likened to a “cemetery.”
