Musician Hozier made a little slipup on Instagram, and it cost him a little bit of embarrassment.
Hozier, also known as Andrew Hozier-Byrne, had used the “
Handsome Squidward” filter on Instagram, which gives the face a chiseled look.
The filter was inspired by an
old episode on
Spongebob Squarepants, where the better-looking version of Squidward has chiseled jawlines and often gives off a smoldering look.
The singer playfully messed around with the filter and posted it on Instagram Story. He can be seen flirting with the camera as he smoothly said, “yeah, girl.”
Soon, the post was deleted, and another story was posted by Hozier, who seemed horrified by the previous post because it turns out that he had wanted to post it to his “close friends” group on Instagram, and not to all of his followers.
He then posted a text message, stating, “Hahaha inconsolable weeping Christ, that Handsome Squidward content was just for the boys. Pray for me. Thank you.”
Hozier then posted a video explaining his horror of accidentally posting the clip out to the public. “I am so mortified,” he said. “I’m not high. I just pressed the wrong button… I couldn’t delete it fast enough.”
“You live by the Squidward filter, you die by the Squidward filter…” he continued. “You’re all drinking in the chaos on Twitter, God bless. Thanks for understanding. Thanks for your discretion. Thanks for not posting on Twitter.”
Unfortunately, his fans reposted the hilarious video on Twitter to relish in the embarrassing moment. Watch it for yourself below, but be warned as it cannot be unseen.
