‘Pinocchio’ Leaves Viewers Horrified Due To ‘Violent’ & ‘Inappropriate’ Scenes

Viewers were left horrified after the live-action Pinocchio movie was shown to include a scene where the wooden puppet was placed in a noose and hung from a tree.
Matteo Garrone’s adaptation on the novel has been described as “mesmerizingly creepy” by The Guardian.
After the PG-rated film was released, parents have blasted the movie online and warned others of the alarming scene. “Do not take your children to see Pinocchio at the cinema! It is outrageous that this film has been given a PG rating!” a mother tweeted. “Death by hanging, violence and inappropriate relationships.”
The scene that has worried many parents sees the wooden boy being hung from the tree by thieves, in line with the original 1883 novel.
A mother vented out her frustration at the movie on Mumsnet, writing, “I took the daughter to the cinema to watch this. Well I was rather shocked. It included: Pinocchio burning his legs off, being hung by a noose and having a brick tied around his leg and flung out to sea.”
“A young boy in front of us cried, lots of people left (including us),” she continued. Another wrote, “For someone who works with children I deemed it highly inappropriate for any child to watch.”
The 1883 Pinocchio novel by Carlo Collodi was set in Tuscany, Italy. “There is something rich and strange and generous in Matteo Garrone’s new live-action version of the Pinocchio story,” The Guardian’s film critic Peter Bradshaw wrote. “They have given us a story that combines sentimentality and grotesqueness in a really startling way. It looks like a horror film.”

I didn't find much humour in a beloved children's character hanging from a noose and neither would a child. What about Pinocchio being encouraged to kiss an old man to make him better in return for his life and freedom? Not much humour there either...

I agree, I was horrified it was a PG. Two small kids were taken out of the screening I was in in tears!! Of course more egregious than the Cert was the fact it was dubbed. I mean WTF?
