Adele Gets Cultural Appropriation Heat For Her Jamaican Flag Bikini, Bantu Knots

Adele’s latest Instagram post has sparked outrage online for potential cultural appropriation.
The 32-year-old singer shared a photo of herself wearing a Jamaican flag bikini with acid-wash leggings, a yellow-feathered headdress, and Bantu knots in celebration of London’s annual Notting Hill Carnival, which took place online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The photo was from a previous year, and many were confused and offended by her outfit as the carnival celebrates Caribbean culture and boosts British unity, which had no ties with her nor the flag she was wearing.
HuffPost also pointed out that Bantu knots are said to have originated from the Zulu tribes in southern Africa and have been deeply rooted in Black culture.
“If 2020 couldn’t get anymore bizarre, Adele is giving us Bantu knots and cultural appropriation that nobody asked for,” one user noted.
“This is really problematic! This is cultural appropriation,” another user expressed.
