No Nintendo Switch? You Might Be Able To Run Its Games From Your Phone

Three years since its release, the Nintendo Switch remains to be one of the top items on people’s wish lists, thanks in part to quarantine boredom. This also means there are still many out there who haven’t had their hands on the coveted handheld console.
If you don’t own a Switch but happen to have a higher-end Android phone, here’s some potential good news for you. According to YouTube channel Taki Udon, via Input Mag, it’s possible to play Nintendo Switch games with an Android app and smartphone game controller.
The Switch emulator app, called Egg NS, currently supports 154 titles, including the well-loved Let’s Go, Pikachu!, Pokémon Sword and Shield, Super Mario Odyssey, Stardew Valley, and Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, though it isn’t compatible with the popular Animal Crossing: New Horizons yet.
Egg NS claims that a number of these games run “perfectly,” while about half of them are prone to crashing.
You’ll also need a Gamesir X2 controller to fire up these titles, along with an Android phone with a powerful Snapdragon 865 processor.
Of course, how ethical this alternative is is a different story altogether. Plus, given that you’ll need to fork out money for a high-end Android smartphone along with a third-party controller, it’d be a smarter choice overall to just save up for a Switch or Switch Lite. The experience with the original would be more intuitive, and definitely more legal, after all.
