Disney+ Confirms ‘Mulan’ Will Be Available At No Extra Cost Later This Year

Forgoing a global theatrical release, Disney will drop the live-action Mulan on its streaming service as a “one-off” solution to delays and closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on 4 September.
The catch is that, in order for subscribers to catch the film as soon as it releases, they will have to cough up a one-time payment of US$29.99 on top of their monthly fees.
Disney+ explained that paying the sum unlocks “Premier Access,” where families will be able to watch the movie as many times as they wish as long as they retain their subscriptions. Parents whose kids were—and still are—obsessed with Frozen and Moana might appreciate this feature.
You might want to wait for a few months before streaming the film, though. Media analyst uncovered that Disney+ has quietly updated its FAQ page to add, “Mulan will be available to all Disney+ subscribers on December 4, 2020 for no additional cost.”
According to Engadget, Disney+ also tweaked its landing page to reflect the 4 December date.
So, maybe don’t tell the kids when Mulan will actually roll out on the streaming platform.
