‘The Office’ Is Filled With Hidden Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed

The Office co-stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, who played Pam Beesly and Angela Martin respectively, have their own podcast about the show, called Office Ladies.
The two often exchange insights from the episodes and behind-the-scenes stories during filming in the podcast. They have also revealed some little-known Easter eggs which fans can spot on their favorite TV series. Here are some below.
That is not Meredith
During the pilot episode of the Office Ladies podcast, Fischer pointed out, “Meredith is not Meredith.”
In that episode, Steve Carell’s character Michael Scott introduces the new intern to the employees at Dunder Mifflin, and in a couple of scenes, you can see a woman sitting at Meredith’s seat. However, that was not Kate Flannery, who played Meredith in the popular series.
It was actually actor Henriette Mantel, who was filmed in the pilot episode but couldn’t make it for filming when the show was confirmed six months after the initial shoot. Therefore, executives had to recast the role of Meredith.
You can spot Mantel in the first two seconds, and in between the 3:09-3:11 mark in the video above.
Online Solitaire was a thing
Fans of the show might spot the Dunder Mifflin employees playing FreeCell Solitare in the background of certain scenes. That was apparently a real thing as the cast grew to enjoy the game during filming.
They even created competitions surrounding Solitaire to entertain themselves between scenes. Flannery was apparently the longest-running champion for the online game.
Oscar got a stunt double
In the second season of The Office, the cast members were filmed at an ice rink for Scott’s birthday on the 19th episode.
Kinsey shared on the podcast that Oscar Nunez had worked with stunt figure skater Burt Jude Lancon for some of the shots. Fischer said that he was “a famous pairs skater who won the silver medal in the 1982 US Figure Skating Championships, [who was] later placed sixth at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games.”
That is why you can see Oscar being a pro ice skater, who was able to tricks and spins on the ice rink.
Carell actually injured himself

Carell actually had an injury on his left ring finger, which fans can spot during the Drug Testing episode on season two. Fischer rewatched the episode and shared on the podcast on how Carell would attempt to hide his injured finger during the close-up scenes.
On the 20th episode, Carell can be seen with a wrapped bandage on his left ring finger, and that was because the actor had to hide his wedding ring, which couldn’t come off after his finger swelled from an injury during pick-up hockey.
“A lot of the time he keeps his left hand down,” Fischer said. “Now that you know this fact, in rewatching this episode look at how often he's hiding his left hand.”
