Toaster Strudel Finally Admits Link To Wieners Family With ‘Mean Girls’ Pastry

No matter how thoughtless Gretchen Wieners can be, you’d have to give her credit. It’s been 16 years since Mean Girls hit screens, and she’s waited so long for someone to help her make fetch happen to no avail.
At the very least, she’s finally getting some recognition from Pillsbury. The company has launched limited-edition Mean Girls Toaster Strudels, with Gretchen Wieners’ face on the packaging, in honor of the film’s legacy.
The special edition, available in strawberry as well as cream cheese and strawberry flavors, is in reference to her famous quote, “I don’t think my father, the inventor of Toaster Strudel, would be too pleased to hear about this.”
The pastry also arrives with pink icing for use not only on Wednesdays. Fans are invited to decorate their Toaster Strudels with it in the most imaginative ways they can think of as part of a ‘The Most Fetch’ Toaster Strudel Icing Sweepstakes.
“We’re thrilled to bring this limited-edition Mean Girls product and sweepstakes to fans everywhere, especially for all the not-so-regular, but cool moms out there,” detailed Keavy O’Malley Keyes, senior brand experience planner at Pillsbury’s parent company General Mills. “For years, we’ve enjoyed seeing the art fans have made using Toaster Strudel icing and can’t wait to see the fun designs they come up with using our new Mean Girls-inspired pink icing.”
Not to stir up any Mathletes-level competitiveness again, but the company is on the lookout for three of the “most fetch” creations, and will reward their designers with a personalized video message by Lacey Chabert (who played Gretchen Wieners), a whole year’s supply of Pillsbury Toaster Strudels, and Mean Girls swag.
To promote this movie tie-in, Pillsbury has also roped in the actress—the rightfu ambassador of Toaster Strudel—to drum up the peer pressure for the best icing artworks.
