‘Private Island’ Pandemic Party Meme Is Social Media’s New Favorite COVID-19 PSA

You might have seen some Twitter memes with the message reading “Summer fun! (*private island all tested negative multiple times wear a mask),” along with a screenshot of a television show or film featuring a group of people.
Well, the meme was created as an unusual public service announcement on how the coronavirus might spread easily from person-to-person in large gatherings and events.
However, the joke was actually inspired by a real-life party that was apparently held on a private island.
The Walking Dead star Daniel Newman had posted out a tweet with the message reading “Summer fun! (*private island all tested negative multiple times wear a mask).” The post included a photo of himself along with around 25 other people posing closely together without a mask.
Though the tweet has been deleted, Twitter users used the post as inspiration to educate others about superspreader events during the pandemic through memes.
