Adobe Recreates Keith Haring’s Paint Tools & Brushes And Releases Them For Free

Adobe has digitally created 37 brushes inspired by iconic artist Keith Haring.
The brushes represent mediums ranging from chalk and markers to Sumi ink, felt tip pens, spray paint and acrylic paint. Each brush can be downloaded for free through Photoshop and the iPad’s Adobe Fresco painting app.
To make the tools as accurate as possible, Adobe partnered with the Keith Haring Foundation and illustrator Kyle T. Webster to analyze everything from the surfaces Haring would have worked with to how fast he would create his paintings—which led to wet materials and paint drips.
“This was no easy feat—recreating Keith’s brush strokes, as they would have acted when he himself was making art, came with technical challengers—but we are proud of the end result and can’t wait to see what you are able to create,” Adobe explained in a blog post.
On top of helping people learn more about Haring’s legacy, Adobe is also hosting an art contest with the new brushes on the forefront. Participants are asked to draw attention to important issues, such as the environment, equality, education, and will be put in the running to win US$5,000 and a one-year Creative Cloud membership.
