Walmart Launches Pilot Program To Deliver Parcels Via Drones

On Wednesday, Walmart set up a pilot program using drones to deliver goods to customers in Fayetteville.
The company hopes to explore how drone deliveries can be used as a new method for making convenient, safe, and fast deliveries.
“The drones, which are controlled over the cloud using a smart and easy control dashboard, will help us gain valuable insight into the customer and associate experience, from picking and packing to takeoff and delivery,” the company’s press release reads.
The drones for the new initiative are manufactured by Flytrex, a company known for its drone delivery service.
Tom Ward, senior vice president of customer products at Walmart in Bentonville, says that it will take some time before drone deliveries are widely adopted for nationwide use.
However, the latest venture will be the first step for the company to venture into a new form of delivery, which is growing in demand amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last week, Amazon received approval by the Federal Aviation Administration last week to begin trial flights for drone package deliveries.
