Warhol Museum Takes To ‘Animal Crossing’ For Full ‘Chelsea Girls’ Screening

With the coronavirus pandemic still present, many have found refuge in the virtual wold of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Now, players can even entertain themselves indoors by watching films within the digital realm.
A post by Twitter user @jakeforgelnest reveals that there is now an island where players can visit to watch Andy Warhol’s 1966 sex and drugs-centered film Chelsea Girls on a 24-hour loop.
“We are using two 16mm projectors and have the proper reel order and sound cues,” the post reads.
The film’s screening will include a split-screen, similar to Warhol’s first commercially successful film. It features 22 different 33-minute reels with star appearances, including Mario Montez, Ondine, Gerard Malanga, Susan Bottomly, and Ingrid Superstar.
The virtual screening was made possible in collaboration with The Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.
However, there hasn’t been any information on how to get to the island nor a launch date for the screening as of now.
