Trump Rally Site Smacked With $3,000 Fine For Violating COVID-19 Rules

While most of the world has resorted to virtual means during the COVID-19 pandemic, for President Donald Trump and his campaign team, life still goes on outside—though many would argue this act of normalcy has gone too far.
CNN reports that Xtreme Manufacturing, the host of Trump’s indoor campaign rally in Henderson, Nevada, has been slapped with a US$3,000 fine for violating the state’s coronavirus guidelines.
To curb the spread of the coronavirus, Nevada prohibits gatherings of 50 people or more. Evidently, Xtreme Manufacturing went against this restriction and followed through with plans for Sunday’s rally despite prior warnings from the city of Henderson.
Attendees were also not required to wear face coverings and neglected to distance themselves from one another.
The Trump campaign team stated on Saturday, however, that attendees at Nevada rallies would get their temperatures checked ahead of entry, as well as receive masks “they’re encouraged to wear” and “have access to plenty of hand sanitizers,” one representative told the news outlet.
Kathleen Richards, a senior public information officer for Henderson, confirmed the following Monday, “A compliance officer [at the rally] observed six violations of the directives and the City’s Business Operations Division has issued a Business License Notice of Violation to Xtreme Manufacturing and assessed a penalty of US$3,000.”
The host has been given 30 days to “respond to the notice and pay the penalty or dispute the notice of violation.”
Addressing the violations, Xtreme Manufacturing owner Don Ahern said he harbors no anger at city workers about handing him the fine. “You know, they’ve got a job to do,” he responded. “They may be being directed. So we respect everybody’s position in this situation.”
Ahern emphasized that he aspires to “continue the great American tradition of the right to assemble and to free speech.”
