Vans x MoMA Bring Dreamlike Artworks Of Dalí, Monet & More To Clothing & Shoes

The vivid works of Salvador Dalí, Claude Monet, and more disrupt the streets in Vans’ artful two-part collection with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

Painting your everyday mask look alive, the first installment of the collection sees Dalí’s The Persistence of Memory (1931), Vasily Kandinsky’s Orange (1923), and Monet’s Water Lilies (1914-1926) decked across four silhouettes—the Authentic, Era, Old Skool Twist, and Slip-On—as well as apparel and accessories.

Quite notably, the foxing stripe of the Old Skool Twist gets an additional Dalí treatment as it “melts” onto the shoe’s gum sole, stretching “the perception of reality.” Vans says the distorted stripe can also be seen on its Dalí-inspired pullover and long-sleeved shirt designs.

Meanwhile, Monet’s heady brushstrokes from the famous Water Lilies series cascade the Vans Authentic footwear, a hat, backpack and fleece, and Kandinsky’s abstract art style reworks the signature Vans checkerboard pattern to create vibrant tops and headwear.

Vans will follow this rollout with a second launch exclusively for kids and toddlers, featuring work by Edvard Munch, Faith Ringgold, Jackson Pollock and Lybov Popova, to nurture creativity from young.

The first capsule will drop online via Vans’ website, the MoMA store, and select retailers like Nordstrom on 30 September, while the second will be available in November.
