First Look Inside Proposed NASA Lander Designed For Its 2024 Trip To The Moon

NASA is planning to return to the Moon in 2024 as part of its Artemis program, and military contractor Dynetics has unveiled the first look of its proposed full-scale lander that will allow astronauts to safely dock on the lunar surface.
The company released a video showing the interior of the spacecraft. The model is similar in size to NASA’s Apollo moon lander, and includes key pieces of foam plastered to the walls of the model to easily move it around in order to find the best positions.
“The flexible design is readily reconfigurable, allowing the human systems integration (HSI) team and flight crew to review and provide feedback on early concept designs and execute quick-turn iterations,” Dynetics’ statement reads.
Dynetics adds that the reusable lander is affordable, and will significantly lessen costs for further trips to the Moon.
