Elle Fanning Praised For Not Editing Photos After Showing Her Eczema ‘Eyeshadow’

Elle Fanning got real with her skin struggles in her latest photos on Instagram.
The actress shared a series of makeup-free selfies where she appeared to don pink eyeshadow on her lids. It turns out, the coloration on her eyelids is a result of an eczema flare-up.
“Eczema but make it eyeshadow,” she captioned her snaps, along with a emoji of a sticking tongue.
Fanning’s move on shining a light on her condition has been praised by her fans and celebrities, who also applauded her for being comfortable in her own skin instead of editing out her eczema.
“Thank you for posting this. I struggle with eczema and it hurts my self-esteem. It’s so refreshing seeing public figures without the filters and makeup to show that we are all human,” a fan commented on her photo.
Actress Rachel Brosnahan, who also has a similar condition, wrote, “I feel seen.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, eczema is a genetic condition specifically caused by a gene variation impacting the skin’s ability to provide protection against bacteria and irritants. Skin appears dry, itchy, or senstive, and is often accompanied with red patches or small bumps.
