Hans Zimmer Worked With A 32-Person Choir For ‘Dune’… Over FaceTime

Warner Bros. Studios recently unveiled the trailer for the upcoming sci-fi film Dune, which features a rendition of rock band Pink Floyd’s Eclipse from the 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon.
Variety reported that the reworked tune of Eclipse was created by renowned film score composer Hans Zimmer, who supervised the recording with a 32-voice Los Angeles choir over FaceTime.
To keep in line with COVID-19 measures, Zimmer sat through eight sessions with four vocalists at a time, who all had their own mics and had the booths wiped down after each session. 12 vocalists performed the lyrics from the song, while the remaining 20 recorded the choral parts.
Though Zimmer’s cover is not released on any music streaming services yet, the popularity of the Dune trailer has drove digital sales for Pink Floyd’s original Eclipse by 1,750 percent, per IndieWire.
The trailer for Dune, featuring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, and Oscar Isaac, has already garnered over 22 million views in its first week of release. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on 18 December 2020.
