Japan’s Tallest Skyscraper, Inspired By Flaming Torch, To Be Completed In 2027

Japan will be welcoming its tallest skyscraper, Torch Tower, in 2027. It is planned to be built in front of Tokyo Station and will be standing at 390 meters-high (1,279 feet).
The 63-story landmark will boast a complex of offices, commercial facilities and a hall that can accommodate around 2,000 people. A luxury hotel and an observation deck will also be built at the upper floors, where visitors can view Mt. Fuji, Japan’s tallest mountain.
According to developer Mitsubishi Estate, the design of the building, inspired by a flaming torch, aims to become a “torch that lights up the world.” The upcoming skyscraper will be part of a wider 31,400-square-meter (338,000-square-foot) development, with three other buildings and a plaza slated for construction near Tokyo’s Marunouchi business district.
“By adding a new attraction, we will shape Marunouchi into a district that would be chosen (by businesses),” Mitsubishi Estate president Junichi Yoshida said in a press conference.
