Ellen DeGeneres Returns To Talk Show With Apology To Viewers

The quarantine period brought a little more uncertainty as audiences were faced with reports that the “Be Kind” lady wasn’t as kind as she was depicted on screen.
Ellen DeGeneres publicly addressed speculations about the toxic work environment on set, which included allegations of misconduct and sexual harassment, at the season premiere of her talk show on Monday.
She promised that “necessary changes” have been made behind the scenes. “Today, we’re starting a new chapter,” she added.
“I take this very seriously and I want to say I’m so sorry to the people it affected,” DeGeneres apologized, claiming to have been unaware of the ugly work culture at the show until allegations popped up.
She added, “If I’ve ever let someone down, if I’ve ever hurt their feelings, I am sorry for that.”
Two executive producers, Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman, as well as co-executive producer Jonathan Norman, were dismissed following a wildfire of complaints about toxic corporate behavior.
Meanwhile, DJ Twitch has been promoted to co-executive producer of The Ellen Show.
DeGeneres reassured that she is “the person that you see on your TV,” but also “a lot of other things.”
“Sometimes I am sad, I get mad, I get anxious, I get frustrated, I get impatient and I am working on all of that,” she elaborated. “I am a work in progress.”
Instead of a physical audience at the season premiere, the seating area was filled with digital panels showing faces of her viewers.
