Fictional Homes Transform Into Polly Pockets That Pop Culture Buffs Would Buy

Unlike LEGO, Polly Pocket hasn’t shed its image as a toy for young children. Toy review site TheToyZone believes this can be turned around if Mattel had banded together with popular franchises to create pocket-sized Polly Pocket sets for pop culture fans young and old.
“Where’s our teeny-weeny Polly Pocket: Death Star Edition?” the website shared in a press release.
To prove how brilliant this idea actually is, it has teamed up with CGI artist Jan Koudela to “do a LEGO” and reimagine recognizable homes in Stranger Things, Friends, The Simpsons, Lord of the Rings, The Shining, and The Royal Tenenbaums as miniature toy sets à la Polly Pocket.
Koudela worked with TheToyZone’s art director, Povilas, to put together a scrapbook of iconic elements and Easter eggs from the shows and films, before starting on the 3D models with Cinema4D.
The team also ensured to make the sets look plasticky without detracting from the onscreen versions or Polly Pocket’s design “language” of sticker backgrounds, trap doors and plexiglass windows.
The final step involved using Photoshop to make the CGIed toys appear color-accurate.
The end results, which you can revel in after the scroll, are so satisfying to look at. Take notes, Mattel.
