Salt Bae’s Restaurant Gets Shut Down Days After Opening For COVID-19 Violations

Internet icon “Salt Bae,” whose real name is Nusret Gökçe, had to shut down his new Nusr-Et restaurant in Boston after a few days of its grand opening for failing to meet COVID-19 safety requirements.
Gökçe attained internet stardom years ago after videos of him dramatically sprinkling salt over meat went viral. He is now back on headlines for repeatedly failing to adhere COVID-19 public safety standards in his new restaurant, according to Boston Globe.
Several reports suggested that the restaurant’s opening night was crowded with no social distancing in place, and barely any face masks were worn by customers and employees.
The restaurant has been ordered to cease operations, and its license for selling alcoholic beverage has been suspended indefinitely. Gökçe is expected for two hearings with the city’s Licensing Board on Tuesday.
