Netflix Faces Copyright Lawsuit For Henry Cavill’s ‘Enola Holmes’ Role

Henry Cavill is done trying to solve the case of why his character in Netflix’s Enola Holmes film is being dragged into a lawsuit.
As reported by GQ UK, Netflix is being sued by the Conan Doyle Estate on grounds of copyright and trademark violations for showing a version of Sherlock Holmes (played by Cavill) that had a “warmer” personality.
The Conan Doyle Estate elaborated that Cavill’s more caring depiction was closer to Sherlock Holmes’ temperament in the last 10 Sherlock Holmes stories, which the estate holds the rights to, while public domain variations only describe of his icy-cold persona.
Addressing the complaint, Cavill coolly responded, “Honestly, I don’t have a take on it. It’s a character from a page which we worked out from the screenplay. The legal stuff is above my pay grade.”
As to how he felt about his acting being at the center of copyright infringement claims, the star replied, “Haha, honestly, nothing surprises me anymore.”
