Samsung Parodies Chanel’s Brad Pitt Perfume Ad To Promote Its Washing Machines

Samsung enlisted Olympian gymnast Max Whitlock to star as the leading man of its latest washing machine ad.

Fragrance ads are known to be over-the-top and creative, and Samsung’s ad is inspired by that. Produced together with creative PR agency Taylor Herring, the clip hits all the hallmarks of a typical perfume commercial; it is shot in monochrome, has a vague narration, as well as a good-looking celebrity.

The video pays homage to Brad Pitt’s famous ad for Chanel No. 5 ad, with Whitlock pondering through the mysteries of life and laundry. The athlete showcases his pommel horse moves on the top of the washing machine as he promotes the new perfume.

Whitlock seductively runs his hands over Samsung’s ecobubble washing machine and spritzes himself with the perfume, before sniffing a Union Jack flag.

The ‘Freshly Laundered - Eco Edition’ scent, housed in a glass bottle, is a miniature version of the washing machine. The unisex fragrance is available in the UK with any Samsung ecobubble washing machine.

“This new Samsung machine is an amazing piece of kit – it washes clothes brilliantly but also doubles up as a perfect pommel horse,” Whitlock said. “The perfume smells amazing too – as athletes we spend much of our working lives surrounded by sweaty kit so we appreciate the refreshing smell of clean laundry more than most!”
