Apple To Unveil Its First Silicon Mac Processor At A Special November Event

Apple is reportedly gearing up for a special event in November, according to prolific leaker Jon Prosser.
Prosser said Apple will hold this event on 17 November, and it will announce new Mac models—including the first Mac with the Apple Silicon chip processors.
Prosser added that Apple will confirm the event the week before, on 10 November. Prior to this, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple plans to launch new Macs in November.
During the 2020 WWDC conference, Apple announced the transition of Intel processors to the Apple Silicon, which are the same ARM processors used in iPhone and iPad. HYPEBEAST also reported that Apple is expected to announce its lowest-cost MacBook during this event.
Speculation has it that the Apple Silicon Mac will be introduced in a 12-inch format, and computers running on ARM Mac processors will use TSMC 5 nanometer process technology. Through this, Apple will be able to keep the price of each processor at US$75—one-fourth of the processor prescribed by Intel.
It is still unclear as to which Mac model will be first to get the Apple silicon treatment. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo presented a timeline back in July, claiming both a 13.3-inch MacBook Pro and revamped MacBook Air will be taking on Apple’s custom chips before the end of 2020.
Rumors in June stated that Apple plans to revive the 12-inch MacBook with an A14X processor. A report from China Times in August said the machine will boast a custom GPU, USB-C connectivity, weigh less than 1kg and net between 15 and 20 hours of battery life.
