Apple Shows How You Can Film Like The Movies With iPhone 12 Pro’s Dolby Vision

Smartphone makers have made it possible to conduct quality shoots without having to carry bulky equipment around. Apple has now extolled these capabilities to the world of film; the new iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max are the first smartphones to be equipped with Dolby Vision recording, the very same format adopted by movie studios.
The tech giant exemplifies the iPhone 12 Pro’s filmmaking potentials in a new ad titled Make Movies Like the Movies. The video illustrates how users can create movie-quality work so long as their imagination allows them to—they can record from the ground to focus on dancing feet, put an iPhone on wheels for seamless zooming, and even drench it for moody rainy-day shoots.
Apple explains on its website that, even without Dolby Vision, the iPhone 12 Pro’s camera makes for superior video-taking since it promises 10-bit HDR recording, as opposed to the 11 Pro’s eight-bit. The camera app can also capture 700 million colors for true-to-life footage.
Helped by the A14 Bionic chip, the iPhone 12 Pro has the capacity to shoot 4K Dolby Vision clips of up to 60 fps.
Users won’t just be able to record Dolby Vision videos through their smartphones for the first time, but they can also edit them using the iPhone’s Photos, iMovie, or Clips apps, as well as through the upcoming Final Cut Pro software for Mac.
When they’re done filming and editing, iPhone 12 Pro owners can play the footage on their televisions through AirPlay and enjoy “every last bit of the difference” on screen.
