Life-Sized Poster Of Naked Woman In Shower Runs Awash With Calls For Removal

Gedling Borough Council officials have requested for the immediate takedown of a life-sized ad by a toiletries brand that features a naked woman.
The printed, located on the side of The Bathroom Store, featured a woman taking a shower with her nude profile on display. The cheeky poster was reported to the advertising watchdog the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) by discerning passersby.
However, the store’s owner, Sam Collins, insisted that the unusual ad was “harmless fun—it’s just a lady taking a shower.” He added that the image was no worse than what has been showing on television and social media.
“There’s nothing rude and she’s not really baring anything,” Collins explained. “Seeing how stressful life is at the moment, we thought people could laugh and smile about it.”
The poster has made several shoppers uncomfortable. “That’s just not appropriate. I suppose you can’t see anything but there’s kids walking past,” Elizabeth Clark said. “Teenagers have enough to deal with body image as it is.”
Others, though, weren’t too bothered by it. “I can just see people driving past not looking at the lights. But it doesn’t offend me—I just wish I looked like that,” Jacqualyn Lee said.
A Gedling Borough Council spokesperson said the ad was put up without planning consent, and the store owner has been told to take it down. He also confirmed it was council policy to report to ASA, which is currently assessing the poster. The store will be forced to remove the visual if it’s found to break the rules.
