Extra Functional Sneaker Concept Has Charging Ports Or Tampons Ready For You

Designer Netha Goldberg is changing the meaning of functional fashion with her concept of knitted shoes.
The shoe collection consists of attachments for everyday items, such as tampons, matches and even charging ports.
Goldberg explained that her inspiration behind the designs is how there have been fewer positive interactions in society, and therefore decided to help bridge the gap by designing unique shoes with attachments for everyday items. The shoes carry objects that are part of our lives and are regularly shared with people.
The array comprises of three shoe designs; the first pair contains matches, the second holds tampons, while the third offers electrical ports to charge a number of devices. Each design gives off a futuristic and abstract feel.
The white shoe design is covered with spikes and holes in the center, allowing you to put in matches. “These represent the element of fire—an element we have been transfering to one another since the beginning of time,” she explained.
The red shoe features tubular openings that hold tampons, which are normally hidden away in a purse or bag.
The outer edge of the blue shoe features USB charging ports, allowing people to charge their devices on the go using a portable charger inside the sole.
“The project examines the field of cooperating in an unconventional way and provides answers to the sincere desire to give and receive as part of a creative, mutual and open society,” Goldberg explained.
Goldberg created the objects to be visible in “an extroverted manner” and for the shoes to be able to carry a generous amount of items. To encourage social interaction even further, a barcode is printed on the back of each shoe that links to a social app, allowing people to connect even further.
Though the footwear isn’t available to purchase or wear, the concept is definitely an interesting one.
