Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami has embellished a room at the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. with his iconic floral motifs.
The artist was enlisted by art gallery Gagosian and organizer RxArt to transform a room for CT scans to evoke a positive environment through his signature colorful patterns, which have been plastered over the walls, doors, and on the CT/PET scanner.
The room will be utilized for the detection of bone and joint issues or conditions like cancer and heart disease, so his cheerful aesthetics will be used to hopefully brighten up spirits.
“My Flower works were installed to wrap a CT/PET scanner, and the wallpaper at the Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC,” Murakami wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to the RxArt team for the arrangements.
