Nando’s Served Up Distasteful ‘unDemocratic Meals’ To Make A Point About Voting

Nando’s encouraged young voters to exercise their democratic right to have a say in what happens in America.
The restaurant launched a campaign called The unDemocratic meals, where it served meals that the customers didn’t order. The restaurant recorded the aftermath with hidden cameras and posted it on its social media platforms.
Customers were told there was a mystery “undemocratic meal” that the chef would choose for them. Based on the video, which was captured at Nando’s in Washington D.C., customers were served unappetizing meals like two chocolate brownies on a bed of rice and a chicken burger without the chicken.
After confusion and tons of laughter, the customers were served custom red and blue napkins that read, “Don’t Let Someone Else Decide for You. Vote November 3.”
“We wanted to illustrate to customers what it feels like to let someone else choose for them. So, we created a menu of unDemocratic Meals,” said Nando’s CEO John Fisher. “Get out there and vote and let your voice be heard. Participate in our great democracy. This election is way too important to let someone else decide for you.”
