Rare ‘UFO’ Portable House Is One Of Fewer Than 100 Ever Built, Now Up For Grabs

A one-of-a-kind Futuro house in Ōtautahi, New Zealand is now going up for sale.
The Futuro house mimics the appearance of a UFO for science-fiction fans to live out their dreams at home. This oval-shaped structure, designed by Finish architect Matti Suuronen, is one of fewer than 100 ever built in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is estimated that there are around 63 of these original structures in the world at the moment.
The relocatable abode measures up to 13 feet in height and 26 feet in diameter and comes equipped with a fiberglass kitchen bench, two-by-two seater couch units, and an additional two-seater in storage. It also includes its original mattress, window molds, and two fiberglass shelving wall units with two more stocked aside.
The Futuro structure is now up for auction until 5 December 2020, or until it is sold. Find out more here.
