Drawing Human Hands Is Tricky, But This Hack Will Save Them From Looking Awkward

A Twitter user has revealed a clever hack that could change the way you draw hands.
Jesse Hamm’s latest tutorial has gone viral on Twitter after he showed a simple technique on how to draw the human hand without it looking comically disproportioned. In his tweet, he shared three images to show how to make hand illustrations with blacked-in backgrounds look more natural.
Rather than leaving their outlines as is, artists are encouraged to trace outside the lines before blacking-in, so the hands don't look too spiny.
Sketching out the hand on the outline itself might make the fingers look awkward and creepy, as seen from another image he shared.

When you ink a figure before blacking-in its surrounding exterior area, the remaining white interior often looks more spindly than you intended (image 1).
