LEGO’s 9,036-Piece Model Of Rome’s Colosseum Is Its Largest Set Yet

While you can’t currently travel to Rome to see the majestic Colosseum, LEGO is offering a smidge of the experience with a new set inspired by one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
This kit isn’t something for the young ones. In fact, the expression about Rome not being built in a day seems fitting of it. Comprising 9,036 pieces, the LEGO Colosseum set is the company’s “largest LEGO brick set launched to date,” surpassing the impressive 7,541-piece Star Wars Millennium Falcon model.
It’s also designed with architectural precision in mind, including three brick shades for a realistic appearance. The kit is also constructed with three distinct stories of the “Doric, Ionic and Corinthian orders,” and comes into shape with 80 “ribs” for the monument’s spectator stands, the company described in a press statement.
“Hopefully, people will be inspired to learn more about the original through the experience of building the LEGO model,” described set designer Rok Zgalin Kobe.
When complete, the LEGO Colosseum will stand at 10.5-inches high, 23.5-inches long, and 20.5-inches wide.
The set’s grand presence lets on that it won’t come cheap. Come its release date on Black Friday (27 November), the replica will be available on LEGO.com and in LEGO retail stores for US$550.
