Sainsbury’s has dropped its Christmas ads that are set to tug at your heartstrings.
The first of three ads, Gravy Soup, is shot in a nostalgic home footage style and shows a father and daughter discussing how much they’d like to see each other for Christmas. The duo relive memories and talk about the food they are about to eat, including the father’s gravy. The daughter’s voice begins to shake as she says, “Your gravy is good, to be fair, and… I just really want to be home for it.”
The second ad, titled Perfect Portions, is about a mother and son bonding over memories of past Christmas dinners.
The final ad, titled Big Sarnie, will be out on 19 November. It will show two cousins as they reminisce about Boxing Day at Nan’s and rave over her mega turkey sandwiches. They plan to carry on the tradition this year.
Each ad ends with the caption, “Food is home. Home is Christmas.” Sainsbury’s aims to highlight the power of food at Christmas time, which often trigger many to talk about the happy memories and moments they share with their loved ones.
Emma Bisley from Sainsbury’s said, “We know that this year has been different for everyone. It’s our memories of these dishes, prepared by the people we love, that have the power to transport us home - whether we’re there or not.”
“We hope everyone enjoys watching the collection and it takes them back to their fondest memories of food, home and Christmas,” she continued.
