Twitter Unveils ‘Fleets’ Stories That Disappear After 24 Hours

You can now post stuff on Twitter without worrying that your spur-of-the-moment tweets will come back to haunt you.
The platform has launched Fleets to users globally. Fleets, similar to Snapchat and Instagram Stories, is a feature that makes your tweets disappear from the platform after 24 hours.
According to Twitter, the goal for Fleets is to boost the overall time users spend on the platform by making people more comfortable with sharing content spontaneously. This follows its findings that many users have been fearful of posting permanent tweets.
“Instead of tweeting, people follow along silently or just lurk. We see people draft tweets and don’t send them,” said Joshua Harris, director of design at Twitter.
With the introduction of Fleets, it creates a “lower-pressure way for people to join the conversation,” he explained.
With Twitter Fleets, you can quote tweets with reactions and include text, links, videos, GIFs and single photos. They will appear at the top of Twitter account pages and be visible to your followers. Users can reply to a Fleet via direct message or emoji.
To share a tweet in a Fleet, tap the ‘Share’ icon at the bottom of the tweet and then tap ‘Share in Fleet’. To create a new Fleet, tap your profile image in the Twitter app, then select ‘View Fleets’ to add a new one.
