Apple Explores Matte Black Finish That Can Absorb Visible Light For Its MacBooks

Apple might be working on a sleek matte black finish for its range of gadgets in the future.
The tech giant has filed a patent for the dark coating with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), titled ‘Anodized Part Having a Matte Black Appearance’.
The document, spotted by Patently Apple, describes that the shade could be equipped with “distributed light-absorbing features that are capable of absorbing visible light.”
It seems to resemble revolutionary true-black paints like Anish Kapoor’s Vantablack, MIT’s Singularity Black, as well as the water-based acrylic black paint Musou Black.
The light-absorbent overlay claims to feature pores “where color particles are infused within the pores,” resulting in a solid muted appearance. The varnish could be applied to several metals such as aluminum, titanium, and steel.
So far, Apple has attempted to deliver a few matte black finishes on its range of products like the iPhone 7. However, it has never released a black edition for MacBooks.
Since Apple has only just registered for the patent, the company will have to undergo several tests before materializing the product for the market. So, keep your fingers crossed.
