The Eurovision Song Contest Core Team has unveiled a new logo for the upcoming 2021 event.
The new logo is said to be inspired by the world map, with Rotterdam as the beating heart of Europe. It aims to showcase connection and togetherness while reflecting on a positive look at the year ahead.
“The logo connects Rotterdam with the capitals of the participating countries and symbolizes coming together, regardless of the form,” said Siestse Bakker, executive producer of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
The symbol was designed by creative agency Clever ° Franke, the same agency behind the 2020 Eurovision branding. The concept and final result were developed by the agency using a software created in-house.
“We extended the style from last year to 2021 and retained the simple, intelligent, minimalist and experimental elements but then added a festive touch, to celebrate the return of the Eurovision Song Contest,” co-founder of Clever Franke, Gert Franke, said.
Bakker also took the opportunity to reiterate the belief that next year’s contest will go ahead no matter what.
“Thanks to developments regarding vaccines and reliable rapid tests, we are now cautiously optimistic about what can be done responsibly in May. And all of Europe is now watching us. With creativity and decisiveness, inspired by that typical Rotterdam resilience, we are going to make something very special out of it, I am convinced of that!” he said.
